Welcome to Migenic, presented by Vaktrommet AS—your professional partner for hygienic medical equipment. Founded in 2008 by intensive care nurse Cecilie Frostad, our commitment to cleanliness in healthcare is deeply personal. After her daughter suffered burns while abroad, Cecilie witnessed firsthand the critical importance of hygiene in medical settings.

Our Story & Inspiration

Cecilie observed that essential tools like pens, scissors, and other items frequently fell onto hospital floors. These items were often picked up and reused—sometimes by unaware relatives—without medical staff noticing. This experience inspired her to develop solutions that empower healthcare professionals to maintain full control over the cleanliness of their daily equipment, ensuring they are stored safely and hygienically when not in use.

Additionally, Cecilie recognized that not all healthcare workers had clearly visible name tags, which could impact patient interactions and overall communication in healthcare environments.

From Penhygienic to Migenic

With these insights in mind, Penhygienic—the predecessor of today’s Migenic (pronounced “Mygenic”)—was created. Designed in Norway with the collaboration of Eggs Design Agency and initially manufactured in Italy, this innovative product is made from 100% silicone, capable of withstanding temperatures over 100 degrees Celsius. The equipment holder features specialized slots that securely hold tools—even during movement—while keeping them easily accessible.

Vaktrommet as a Company

In 2010, Vaktrommet AS became a Norwegian limited company, aiming to continue the distribution of the enhanced Migenic item dock, now produced in China.

Our team includes Cecilie Frostad, Olav Eggesbø, and David Bakke, who joined early on and has been a driving force behind the design and development of our online store. Our logo embodies our deep commitment to patient well-being, and we often feature images of Cecilie’s daughter, who has fully recovered—symbolizing hope and resilience.
